There are all sorts of ways we cope with those days when things just don’t seem to go our way or we just need more motivation than usual. Sometimes, I may just turn on good music but sometimes I need something stronger than just audio to cheer me up, and here’s where Netflix comes in.
Watching Netflix may have a bad rep but if used intentionally, it could help get me out of a funk. When I need a good pick-me-upper, I hunt for some inspiring docuseries or some feel-good reality TV show. Here’s a list that I am currently watching and these always tug my heart and make me feel optimistic at least for just a moment instead of succumbing to dark thoughts.
The Playbook
This is a docuseries about different sports coaches and their stories of success, leadership, and motivation. If you are not a sports enthusiast, I say, give this one a try anyway. What I love about this series is that it taught me lessons on life and how to keep going whatever difficult circumstances come my way. Actually, it is a great watch for anyone into personal development. It is not just inspiring but there are in fact lessons to be learned here for normal people like me that I could apply in my own life.
Losers
This is another sports-related docuseries that I found randomly on Netflix and what got my attention is of course the intriguing title. And yes, it is in fact about athletes who had huge setbacks in their athletic careers but somehow, found their niche and place in society. I love how this series shows the unglamorous side of sports where people face defeat. But there is life beyond losses and it sure feels good to know that come what may in my life, there is something beyond my own setbacks in life.
Queer Eye
The title used to intrigue me and I did not know that this was some kind of a makeover show. And if you think makeover shows are so superficial and not your thing, hold right there because I tell you, this is more than just your typical makeover show. It is about personal growth, diversity, inclusivity, and a positive message. I lost count already of the number of times I cried both sad tears and happy tears with this one and it always feels so uplifting and happy I just want more. So if you need a pick-me-up, this one will not just pick you up but will throw you all the way to feel good heaven. And I love that the cast is so vulnerable too and not just there showing up like they were born fabulous people. I think the showcase of vulnerability of the cast makes it a tasteful mix of heartwarming personal stories and inspiring stories of success.
There are so many more series that I might add to these but I start out with these three and tell me what you think?
